TRANSLATIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
Linking the world, one word at a time.
Books, reports, briefs, advocacy campaigns, funding proposals, online courses... I have experience translating just about any type of documents in the field of International Cooperation and many related fields such as International Relations, International Development, Child Protection, Humanitarian Intervention, Environment, and more.
Inclusive writing
In French, pronouns, nouns, and adjectives reflect the gender of the object to which they refer. When that object contains a reality of multiple genders, "the masculine dominates over the feminine", meaning it just takes one man in a group of hundreds of women activists for the group to be referred to as "militants" rather than "militantes".
In the past decade, the French language is witnessing the rise of inclusive writing, which throws that sexist rule out the window to make sure grammar never hides a gender in favor of another. I have been using inclusive writing for all my translations and communications for many years and strongly recommend any new client to do the same.
Whether you already have your own guidance for inclusive writing or are just making the switch, rest assured that your French communications will always be inclusive.
